An Akron Love Story

On April 28, 2022, Stacey and Brian will stand before family and friends to renew their vows after 22 years of marriage.

This adorable couple first met in 1999. Stacey had recently gotten out of a relationship and was feeling pretty down. Her brother invited her to hang out with some of his friends and, despite her mood, she decided to join. As fate would have it, Brian was there that night.

The two hit it off immediately and spent the evening country dancing at the Boot Scootin Saloon. He was so smitten with her that he followed her car for an hour back to her house to make sure that she made it home safely.

From then on, Stacey and Brian were inseparable. They fell in love and were married 10 months later. They went on to have 2 babies within the first two years of marriage and spent the few years raising a family and enjoying life.

Things changed in 2008 when Brian, who was just 31 years old, had a heart attack out of the blue. Stacey called 911 immediately and he underwent emergency heart surgery to have two stints put in. Then, in 2017, he suffered another heart attack due to his previous stints failing. Thankfully, Brian recovered and they began to get back to normal life.

All of that changed in 2020 when Stacey started experiencing some significant digestive issues, coupled with crippling nausea. She was diagnosed with appendicitis and underwent surgery to have her appendix removed. Unfortunately, her symptoms did not go away. She knew something was terribly wrong and was persistent in asking for more extensive testing.

She eventually underwent a colonoscopy, which revealed a neuroendocrine tumor in her intestines. Despite her doctor telling her that it was nothing to worry about, Stacey was concerned. She was finally seen by a doctor at the Cleveland Clinic who sadly found cancer in her rectum, ovaries and lungs.

Stacey has endured a series of very difficult surgeries and treatments related to her cancer and struggles daily with pain, fatigue, and normal bodily functions. Through it all, her spirits are hopeful, and her joy is contagious. We’re thrilled to have met these cuties and cannot wait to grant their wish for a very special vow renewal.
