Sara and Felix’s Orange County Love Story

On February 17, 2022, Sara and Felix will join with their family and friends to renew their vows after 15 years of marriage.

Sara and Felix have an unbelievably beautiful love story. They met 21 years ago in a Yahoo chat room – she was a 15-year-old high school student living in rural Kansas, he – an 18-year-old in south central LA. They hit it off immediately and soon became great friends, chatting online, sending each other mail and talking on the phone. After a year of communicating, Sara convinced her mom to take her to LA to meet Felix. It was love at first sight. The two felt an instant attraction to each other and soon found themselves flying back and forth across the country whenever they could. Felix even came to her senior prom and graduation!

After graduation, Sara moved to Los Angeles to attend college at USC. They remained together for the next four years and were married the day after graduation. They spent the next few years pursuing their careers and starting a family. Life was good and they were happy.

In December of 2018, Sara started to not feel well. She was frequently upset to her stomach and was growing mysteriously bloated. She first went to an urgent care where she was told that she likely had an infection and was given antibiotics. She was then seen by her primary care doctor, who ordered a CT scan. The scan revealed a micro perforation in her colon. For the next two weeks, Sara was in and out of the hospital in constant pain. She ended up having to have an emergency colon resection and an MRI. The results were devastating. She was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to her liver and abdomen.

Sara has endured a tremendous number of surgeries and treatment regiments, including a hysterectomy, liver ablation and liver pump installation, coupled with months and months of intense chemotherapy. Despite the pain, complications and countless side effects, Sara and Felix have not given up hope. Their love remains stronger than ever, and they are fighting hard on a daily basis.

We love this fun, energetic couple and are honored to grant their wish for a vow renewal. We found a wonderful new friend in Claudia Terrazas of Time with Terrazas and are thrilled with all of the wonderful details she has planned for this special day.
