A SoCal love story

On December 7, 2022, Christine and Ashon will join with family and friends to renew their vows and to celebrate their love with their children.

Christine and Ashon first met 20 years ago in an art class in college. They started chatting and soon became friends. They tried dating for a while but decided that they were better off friends. Eventually, they lost touch. They reconnected a few years later and decided to give their relationship another go. Ashon was in the process of moving to Florida and invited Christine to come along. She agreed and the rest is history.

Christine was first diagnosed with cancer right after graduating from college. She had been in a serious car accident and started to feel a lump in her chest shortly after. She went to the doctor and was told that the lump was likely an infection, however, a biopsy revealed something worse. She was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductile carcinoma. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation.

Fast forward to 2017 when the couple had moved from Florida and California for Christine’s job. Christine had started having trouble breathing and went to the doctor to get checked out. She was told that she likely had allergies. Her condition continued to worsen, landing her in the emergency room with a collapsed lung. While in the hospital, she learned that her cancer had sadly returned and that it had spread to her spine, bones and pelvis and that her chest was filled with cancerous fluid. She underwent a spinal surgery and began treatment. It was at this time that Christine and Ashon decided to get married. They were wed in a small civil ceremony and decided to become foster children to a sweet set of siblings, who they eventually adopted.

Christine’s current treatment has taken quite a toll on her body and she continually deals with pain, infections and extreme fatigue. We’ve loved getting to know this beautiful couple and are so touched by their story. We joined forces with the incomparable Elizabeth Brandon of WINK! Weddings and are blown away by the remarkable team of wish granters that she has assembled for this wish.
