A Kansas City Love Story

On March 12, 2021, Ben and Heather will gather before their friends and family to renew their vows after 10 years of marriage. While the past decade has certainly seen its share of hard times, Ben and Heather’s love has deepened and matured and they’re so excited to celebrate with those who have cheered them on.

Ben and Heather met in February of 2011. They were working on a project together for Ben’s company and found themselves trapped in a break room all day waiting out a snowstorm. As the hours passed and they chatted and got to know each other, they knew they had found something special. They soon began dating and were married four months later.

Throughout the past ten years, Ben and Heather have experienced several difficult health struggles. In their first year of marriage. Ben was in a horrible dirt bike accident, in which he broke both of his legs. Two years later, Heather experienced a freak nerve issue in one of her legs and was unable to walk for more than a year. Thankfully, her doctor was able to diagnose the issue and she underwent electric therapy to have it repaired. While Ben and Heather had to learn how to lean on and support one another through both of these traumatic events, nothing prepared them for Ben’s cancer diagnosis.

Less than a year ago, Ben began experiencing a variety of cold and allergy symptoms that wouldn’t go away. As the symptoms persisted, he found himself coughing up blood. He made an appointment with his doctor and after undergoing a series of tests, was sadly diagnosed with lung cancer.  He began treatment immediately and underwent an exhausting chemotherapy regiment. While the treatment was effective in his lungs, his cancer recently metastasized to his brain. Ben is currently undergoing radiation and is doing his best to keep his spirits up, especially in the midst of the Covid pandemic.

We are thrilled to be granting this wish for Ben and Heather. We’ve joined forces with our new friend, Morgan Floyd of Hooch and Honey and have been so touched by the incredible effort she has put into making this wish so special. Morgan lined up an amazing team of wish granters and we’re so excited to see it all unfold.

So many advance thanks to these folks:
