A Kansas City Vow Renewal

On March 12, 2021, Ben and Heather gathered with their loved ones to once again, recommit their lives to one another. From start to finish, the celebration was filled with love and light and our wonderful couple enjoyed a brief escape from the daily reality of cancer.

Ben and Heather first met in February of 2011. They ended up both working on a project for Ben’s company and serendipitously found themselves trapped in a break room together, waiting out a snowstorm. As the hours passed and they chatted and got to know each other, they knew they both felt an immediate spark. They began dating soon after and were married four months later.

Throughout the past ten years, Ben and Heather have experienced numerous health struggles. In their first year of marriage, Ben was in a horrible dirt bike accident, in which he broke both of his legs. Two years later, Heather experienced a freak nerve issue in one of her legs and was unable to walk for more than a year. While Ben and Heather had to learn how to lean on and support one another through both of these traumatic events, nothing prepared them for Ben’s cancer diagnosis.

Less than a year ago, Ben began experiencing a variety of cold and allergy symptoms that wouldn’t go away. As the symptoms began to worsen, he found himself coughing up blood. He made an appointment with his doctor and after undergoing a series of tests, was sadly diagnosed with lung cancer.  He began treatment immediately and underwent an exhausting chemotherapy regiment. While the treatment was effective in his lungs, his cancer recently metastasized to his brain.

We simply loved meeting this beautiful couple and were honored to help them celebrate their vow renewal. We met an incredible planner in our new friend, Morgan Floyd, and were touched by her tenacity, determination and caring heart throughout this process. Morgan flawlessly pulled together an all-star team that truly went above and beyond to make Ben and Heather’s wish extra special.

From the gorgeous, moody color palette to the gourmet menu, breathtaking florals, and handmade celestial décor, the night was draped in decadence. Guests danced the night away to the incredible sounds of Kansas City’s favorite dueling piano group, noshed on delicious cuisine and French macaroons and enjoyed and evening filled with laughter, joy and so many touching moments.

We are eternally grateful to our amazing wish granters for their generosity and creativity and simply could not have done it without them.
