Amanda and travis’ North Carolina Love Story
On May 11, 2021, Amanda and Travis will gather with family and friends to renew their vows after nearly 13 years of marriage. For this sweet young couple, the road back to the altar has been paved with a lifetime worth of triumph and struggle.
Amanda and Travis first met in high school. While they didn’t know each other well, due to their two-year age difference, they had some mutual friends. After graduation, they went to work for the same grocery store and quickly became close friends. Unfortunately, Amanda only worked at the Food Lion for a short time and the two lost touch once she left. As luck would have it, they were both invited to the same engagement party months later and hit it off immediately. From that day forward, they were inseparable. A year later, they got engaged and moved in together.
Amanda and Travis were married in July of 2018 and set off to start a family – and that’s where many of Amanda’s health issues began. After five years of failed fertility treatments and devastating loss, due to extensive endometriosis, they were unexpectedly blessed with two little ones, back to back.
In 2016, after continuing to struggle with endometriosis, Amanda had to undergo an emergency hysterectomy. Following her surgery, she started experiencing debilitating migraines. The tests revealed a large amount of spinal fluid on Amanda’s brain, which required her doctor to put in a brain shunt to relieve the pressure. Months later, she began suffering from seizures, including a grand mal seizure. Just as her doctors were getting her seizures under control, she experienced a scary heart episode that required a cardiac ablation, and in the past year, she suffered two strokes, both of which have greatly weakened the left side of her body. For the past five years, Amanda has spent many weeks in and out of the hospital, trying to heal her failing body. Throughout it all, Travis has held her hand and cared for their beautiful family.
We were touched by all that this wonderful couple has endured in their 13 years together and are thrilled to grant them this vow renewal wish. We’ve brought on board a new friend in Sarah Duckworth Events and are so excited to watch her vision unfold.
