A Long Beach Love Story

On August 24, 2022, Ruth and Jason will gather with friends and family to renew their vows and to pay tribute to a love story that has persevered through sickness and trial.

Ruth and Jason first met through friends while both serving in the military. A year later they ended up working in the same department. Jason brought Ruth a salad one evening, when she was working late, and the two struck up a conversation. They ended up talking for hours and went out to eat once the shift was done. They hit it off that night and began dating.

Within a few months, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. They eloped in 2015 and set off as husband and wife. A year later, they welcomed a sweet baby boy. In 2017, Ruth discovered a lump in her breast while nursing her son. She had it checked out by her doctor, who ordered a mammogram and ultrasound. Surprisingly, she was diagnosed with stage 2 B breast cancer. She was only 38. Ruth underwent a single mastectomy and was able to achieve remission.

Two years later, however, Ruth’s cancer metastasized and is now in her lungs, brain, bones, and left breast. She’s undergone extensive chemotherapy and radiation and is fighting with all that she has for her sweet little family.

We love this beautiful couple and are honored to help them renew their vows. Because Ruth and Jason eloped, they did not have any family or friends present on their wedding day. After all that they have been through, including the tragic loss of Ruth’s sister to cancer this past year, they certainly need a day surrounded by love.

We’ve teamed up with the amazingly talented Sarah Bond, of Grace and Gold Events and are blown away with the team that she has assembled for this special day.

A million thanks to this wonderful group:
