On October 19, 2022, Rucha and Jose will gather with loved ones to renew their vows after 10 years of marriage. In addition to being a special day for our beautiful couple, it’s a huge milestone for our organization as its marks our 200th wish!

Rucha and Jose first met through a mutual friend who had been telling them about each other for more than 2 years. They connected online and began chatting immediately. Sparks flew! Before long, they were married and expecting their first baby. The couple spent the next few years expanding their family and developing Jose’s landscaping business. All of that changed significantly in January of 2020.

While Rucha was weaning her youngest child, she noticed some concerning changes in her breast. Her doctors thought it was an infection related to breastfeeding and put her on antibiotics. When the medicine didn’t clear it up, she went in for a mammogram. She was sadly diagnosed with stage 3 inflammatory breast cancer.

She underwent an aggressive treatment schedule which included a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy. A year later she was pronounced cancer free. However, just a few months later, her cancer spread to her brain. She is actively receiving treatment while doing her best to remain positive and hopeful for her sweet family.

We’re thrilled to have meet Rucha and Jose and have been truly touched by Rucha’s enormous heart, fierce determination, and all-around joyful spirit. We are so excited to honor this wonderful love story and to celebrate our 200th wish come true.
